Flood Lights, Clifford's Tower from Tower Gardens in Flood, York. Prints derived from my original Painting.
2015 was a terrible year in the city devastating flooding destroyed not only property and businesses as well, a failure in the flood barrier caused a huge impact in other parts of the city not usually caught out by floods. I Painted this picture to be raffled to raise money for the flood appeal and it raised £1200 to help. There is something quite mystical about the Tower Gardens when it floods, the lamps stay on reflecting the colours in the flood water. The rivers in York have a special calm beauty about them, but don't let that deceive you its very strong and deep and many a foolish person has jumped dunkenly from the bridges for fun, some are lucky enough to survive this folly but not all. We have all seen on the news how the river can suddenly flood with deviating impact.
Lucy my black cat hides in this and most of my other York pictures. Have you found Lucy?
The original painting was done in Watercolour and mixed media.
